Clue 3: Noah & 7 Days

Second Peter 3:6-8

6“Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished”
God here is clearly referring to the judgment that came by flood in Noah’s day.

7“But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.”
God here is clearly referring to the judgment that will come at the end of time. As God does elsewhere in the Bible, He is once again making a connection between the Flood of Noah’s day and the end times.

8“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”
After making a connection between the Flood and the end of the world, why does God say that a day is as a thousand years? And God says it twice to indicate that it relates to something that is established and will come to pass:
“And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.” (Genesis 41:32)

Noah Is Given Seven Days

“For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.” (Genesis 7:4)

God gave Noah seven days’ notice regarding exactly when His judgment would come upon the earth. The ark represents Christ and the eternal church (see Word Study on “Ship”). When we are in Christ we are safe from the judgment of God.

We Are Given 7,000 Years

God makes a connection for us between the Flood and the end of the world. In Noah’s day, God gave the world seven days to get into the safety of the ark. God has related the statement “a day is as a thousand years” to this topic. The Flood occurred in 4990 BC and if we count 7,000 years from 4990 BC we arrive at the year 2011 (remember there is no year 0).

God gives mankind exactly 7,000 years to get into the safety of Christ, after which judgment will come upon everyone who is not safe and secure in Christ. On its own, this time clue may only be a mere curiosity, but as we continue we are going to see these curiosities continue to agree on the same conclusion. At what point are we going to say, “Is this really all coincidence or is God actually telling us when the end will occur?”

Summary

This clue points to 2011 as the year of the Rapture, the day after which salvation will no longer be possible as symbolized by Noah’s family entering the safety of the ark just before destruction (Remember, the Rapture will occur at the end of the Great Tribulation – see Study on The Rapture). We also find that this agrees with the first two clues which indicated that the end must very near.
